The Voracious Vegan in VegNews Magazine - And a Giveaway!

WOW! I’m completely stunned and overjoyed and thrilled and honored….

The Voracious Vegan has been listed as one of the Top 10 vegan blogs by VegNews Magazine!

When I first learned about this yesterday afternoon, I couldn’t believe it for the longest time. But once I saw the proof, right there on page 130 of the July/August issue of VegNews, it finally started to sink in.

I sat in stunned silence for about 5 minutes while Cody jumped around and hugged me and kissed me and started writing emails to all of our friends and family. I just sat there with my eyes wide and my hand clamped over my mouth. I think I even felt a bit nauseous. It was totally surreal and I had to keep checking and re-checking and checking again to make sure it was true. WOW!

VegNews is the very best vegan lifestyle magazine there is – I love it. It is carried in bookstores and grocery stores throughout the US. It is so hard to believe my blog is named in a magazine that I used to pick up in the checkout line of my local grocery store back in Texas, in the bookstore in New York City, and in the airport in Chicago.

To be recognized by VegNews is such an amazing experience, and to be placed in a list with so many other fantastic vegan blogs is too brilliant for words. Thank you so much VegNews, and big congratulations to the other blogs -

- Crazy Sexy Life
- Manifest Vegan
- Post Punk Kitchen Blog
- Vegan.com
- Vegan Baking
- Vegan Dad
- Vegans of Color
- What the Hell does a Vegan Eat Anyway?
- Yeah, That Vegan Shit

So, a big huge overjoyed thank you to VegNews, it really is an honor. But I’d like to say an even bigger thank you to YOU, my readers.

Without this amazing community of compassionate, brilliant, funny, and supportive readers, none of this would be possible. It is because of your inspiration, encouragement and constant kindness that I blog in the first place. I have made so many incredible friends through this blog, and more than anything else that is the best thing about it. I really hope you will all consider this accomplishment just as much yours as it is mine. Thank you!

I love all the blogs on the VegNews Top 10 list, but I love about a million more! My constantly overflowing blogroll is proof of that, but it is just a start – I am a huge fan of hundreds of amazing blogs. This amazing community of vegan blogs we have all built together is one of the most precious things in my life, and we really are changing the world, one blog post at a time. To all of you wonderful commenters, faithful readers, and all of you fabulous bloggers – keep doing what you do, you mean the world to me.

And what better way to express my thanks than by giving away free stuff!?!? I’m staring another series of giveaways at The Voracious Vegan so stay tuned for another round of fun treats and cool gadgets. It’s just my way of letting you know how awesome I think you are!

To start it off – A 1 Year Subscription to VegNews Magazine!

If you live in the USA you can have your choice of a paper copy of the magazine sent to your house, or a digital copy sent to your inbox. If you live anywhere else in the world it is only available in digital copy, but it is still the same fantastic, bright and beautiful VegNews – the world’s best vegan lifestyle magazine.

Each lucky reader  can have up to 3 entries in this giveaway.

1. Make a comment on this post telling me why you want to win a 1 year subscription to VegNews.

2. Tweet about it using the link to this post so more people can enter this amazing giveaway. Then come back here and make a second comment letting me know you’ve tweeted.

Congratulations on the recognition – you have a great blog. Sorry to see your doggie passed – ours did in April, and it was very sad. So, I’m officially entering your contest, yay! I would love a subscription b/c it’s a great way to get new recipes and to show my kids how many vegans are out there!

Hmm. There are so many reasons why I’d like a subscription, but I think the biggest reasons are for the recipes and the support. I don’t know of any vegans locally, and I have lost 86 pounds since becoming vegan. Thank you!!

I would love to have a subscription to VegNews to help me stay more informed about vegan nutrition/lifestyles and to feel more connected with others like me! I live in a military town in Texas and it can get a bit lonely…

Super congratulations to you – you really do put forth a fantastic effort into this blog and have inspired many of us :)

I don’t get veg news yet amazingly, so I would love to be more informed on current vegan lifestyle news and ways to better incorporate a vegan lifestyle into my routine (more than just cooking).

Hmmm. I’d have to say that I would like to win the subscription because, you see, whenever I’m in the bathroom at home, the only magazines there are for average Americans. I always seem to cry whenever I’m reading them, especially now that it’s the Forth of July. So this magazine will give me recipes and reading material:)

Congrats! I want to win because I’m still transitioning into veganism. I’ve been meat-free since 2005, and I’ve been working to cut dairy out for close to a year. I’d love another push to get it done.

Congratulations! That’s so great! You’re definitely one of my top ten too!

And I would LOVE subscription to VegNews. I currently get Vegetarian Times and I’m soooo tired of all the egg and cheese laden recipes. It makes it really hard to get over the hump into veganism.

    Congrats!

I would love the subscription! I just moved from California to Kansas for a job. The lack of vegan food and vegans is astonishing! A copy of VegNews might make things better! Congrats on the award, you deserved it.

Congrats!!!! I would love to win a subscription to Veg News! Veg News is full of activism, information, humor, recipes, and so on. There is a great feeling that goes along with reading a magazine like Veg News. You know, feeling happy and proud. For everyone who wrote in saying they are from a small town where veganism is rarely found, I understand. I hear you. This is another reason why having a subscription to Veg News would be so great. Finding vegan things gives me a feeling of understanding, belonging, and acknowledgment. Having a Veg News magazine in my hand would be amazing!!!

congratulations lady! i would love to win this awesome give-away. i was 13 years old when i decided i could no longer eat meat. my mother was so worried about this decision- fearing i would suffer from low protein intake. she took me to an american doctor (we were living in Dhahran, KSA at the time). i still remember the dr. (his daughter, lacy, was in my grade). mom told the doc of my decision to be vegetarian, and was waiting for him to give me a lecture on the benefits of eating meat and what i would be missing out on. instead, dr. carruthers (sp?) gave me a high-five, told me he was a vegetarian, and commended me for making such an awesome and aware decision at such a young age. my mom and i still laugh at that story!

Congratulations!!!! And–I’d love a subscription because I’m a vegetarian trying to morph into a vegan. Having a vegan mag coming in the mail regularly would be a HUGE help–inspiration AND plenty of reminders WHY I want to be a vegan.

i would loooooove to win this, because i’ve never been able to find vegnews here in NC, as odd as that sounds. plus, with my supa tight college budget (AKA only spending money when i absolutely have to, haha) i can’t afford a subscription to a magazine. but vegnews is my absolute FAVORITE and i always look at it oh so longingly when i see it on peoples blogs or on twitter!

I took the step of being a vegan the end of jan 2010. I have lost over 40lbs and I was looking for a vegan magazine and came to your site somehow. So now I am going to get the magazine mailed to me. I think this would be a good magazine for me. Thank you and good luck with all you do.
